At Swiss Jewellery & Watches (SJ&W), located in the heart of the Dubai Gold Souk, our selection process is more than a quality check—it is a rigorous curation designed for the world’s most discerning collectors.
Because we deal in high-end horology and iconic branded jewelry, we apply a "Tier-One" Selection Standard to every piece that enters our boutique.
🏛️ The SJ&W Gold Standard: Our Selection Criteria
We do not aim for the largest inventory in Dubai; we aim for the finest. To earn a place in our collection, a piece must pass through three distinct phases of evaluation.
1. Aesthetic Integrity & Condition Grading
We specialize in "Investment Grade" items. We use a standardized 10-point scale, and we rarely acquire anything below a "Near Mint" (8.5/10) rating.
-
The "Unpolished" Philosophy: For luxury watches like Rolex and Patek Philippe, we prioritize pieces with their original factory "chamfers" and sharp edges. We avoid over-polished cases that lose their geometric soul.
-
Component Originality: Every dial, hand, and bezel must be period-correct. We do not accept "Frankenwatches" (genuine parts from different years mixed together).
-
Jewelry Luster: For brands like Gucci and Chanel, we inspect for "micro-scratches" and ensure that precious metal hallmarks and engravings remain deep and clear.
2. The Mechanical Mandate
A luxury watch must perform as beautifully as it looks.
-
Timegrapher Testing: Every mechanical watch is tested on a professional timegrapher in five different positions. We only select watches that meet or exceed COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer) standards for accuracy.
-
Complication Audit: We methodically test every function—from the crisp "click" of a chronograph pusher to the smooth transition of a perpetual calendar.
-
Service History: We prioritize pieces with a documented service history from authorized centers. If a watch is due for maintenance, it is serviced by our master horologists before it reaches our showroom.
3. The "Full Set" Priority
In the world of luxury, the story is as important as the object.
-
The Holy Trinity: We aggressively source "Full Sets"—items that include the Original Box, Warranty Papers/Card, and Manuals.
-
Provenance: We vet the history of every piece. For our branded jewelry, we verify original boutique receipts where possible to ensure a clear line of ownership.
